Sportswear has always been part of the identity of Chanel. Pioneer, Gabrielle Chanel opened shops in resorts, where outdoor activities developed. Bold and avant-garde, she imagined sportswear, elegant and comfortable outfits. Karl Lagerfeld continues the spirit of Gabrielle Chanel by combining sportswear in women’s closet. Precursor, he included the sports boots in his collections of Ready-to-Wear and Haute Couture. “The sports shoes today is not primarily related to sport,” says the designer. “It evokes the life of every day, the street. The sports boots is in the continuity of jeans. “

Last January, for the Haute Couture collection Spring-Summer 2014 of Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld hustled codes: combining the ultimate symbol of femininity, the corset, with that of sportswear, the sports shoes. With Ready-to-Wear Fall-Winter 2014/15 collection, the designer confirms this figure full of modernity and energy accessorizing each silhouette with sneakers, high or low.

“Women wear sneakers everywhere today, to work, to dance,” Karl Lagerfeld observed during the presentation of the collection Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2014.
At the heart of the Ready-to-Wear Fall-Winter 2014/15 collection, the sports shoes is doing as well with a suit as with leggings, a big coat or evening dress. In this spirit, low or high as a boot, laced up to the knee, it is available in twenty combinations of materials and colors: tweed multi effects (herringbone, weaves, curls…), suede, leather rolled, cracked or iridescent, in associations with dominants of black and pink, orange, black and gold, red and green, pink and silver … Explosions of bright colors that remind the world of Chanel Shopping Center, the luxury supermarket, décor of the parade.
With the new sports shoes of Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld confirms the visionary approach marked with freedom of Gabrielle Chanel, combining sportswear to feminine wardrobe. “Freedom is the spirit of the collection,” he says.
