An artist who puts enchantment in a reality sometimes dark
Lebanese director Philippe Aractingi received on Tuesday 24th April 2018, the insignia of knight of the order of arts and letters that was awarded to him by the French Minister of Culture.
It is in the garden of the cultural department of the French Embassy in Lebanon that Aractingi was decorated and honored by Luciano Rispoli, Assistant Counselor for Cooperation and Cultural Action and Deputy Director of the French Institute of Lebanon, in presence of many personalities, including Minister Michel Pharaon, the Ambassador of Britain to Lebanon Hugo Shorter, Ambassador of France in Lebanon Bruno Foucher, Counselor of the Minister of Culture and Francophonie Lynn Téhini, the Middle East President and CEO Mohammad el-Hout, LBCI Chairman and CEO Pierre el-Daher, and a host of friends and family members of Philippe Aractingi.
In his speech, Mr. Rispoli traced the path of Aractingi, while emphasizing that this ceremony «marks the recognition, by the Minister of Culture of the French Republic, of the countless talents» of the Franco-Lebanese director.
Similarly, Rispoli highlighted «the special place» of Aractingi «in the landscape of creation and cinema in Lebanon». «We celebrate a committed artist, a humanist, a creator who is able to change his genre, to renew himself with each film, to reinvent himself in order to enchant a reality sometimes dark and to draw his audience on the paths he makes the choice to clear, by running through them,» he said.
