As part of Paris Fashion Week, the Fall Winter 2018-2019 Couture show of fashion designer Georges Chakra took place at Palais de Tokyo in Paris.
Georges Chakra sows uncertainty this season, coupling the determination of a contemporary beauty with a certain ‘fin de siècle’ opulence. This woman is mysterious and eccentric. Black dominates, with flashes of silver, scarlet, shocking pink and flamboyant orange.
Pleated tulle, cutout chiffon and gazar petals alight on a dress, a jacket, a collar, even a skirt. There are glimmers of shine with lamé lace, shimmery velvet, jet beading, crystals and sequins. Volumes are structured, torsos corseted, waists defined, giving an artistocratic silhouette. Velvet bands cross the body to graphic effect. Tulle, which is omnipresent in this collection, scintillates with glistening sequins for a wedding dress which balances perfectly between fragility and strength.
